According to reports from UCAS, most business-related courses require BBB at A-Level which brings a total of 120 UCAS points. On the other hand, law related courses will usually ask for ABB at A-Level which amounts to 128 UCAS points.
According to UniStats, 90% of applicants have UCAS tariff scores of 208+ and 55% of applicants have UCAS tariff scores of 240+. A-Level grades of A* A* A* A* equates to 224 points, so you need to take at least 5 A-level to get a 240+ UCAS tariff score. AAAAA equates to 240 points exactly.
When browsing university entry standards, you might notice a particular number over and over again, as many degree programmes require prospective students to achieve 112 UCAS points.
It's hard to say what is a good score of tariff points for UCAS because it depends on the university and particular course. However, the majority of the universities in the UK accept students with 136 UCAS points. So, this can be a good UCAS score for students applying to less competitive courses.

If you achieve an 'A' grade in your A-level subject, that's equivalent to 48 UCAS Tariff points. If you achieve a 'B' grade, this will give you 40 points. Earning a 'C' will award you 32 points and so on.
What is 144 tariff points equivalent to?
For the Higher Education Diploma, tariff points range from 144 to 48. A Distinction with 45 credits is worth 144 UCAS points, 30 Distinction credits combined with 15 Merit credits equals 128 points, whilst 15 Distinction credits with 30 Merit credits is worth 112 UCAS points.
A full degree would usually require 360 points: 120 at stage 1 (equivalent to the first year of a degree at a conventional university), 120 at stage 2 and 120 at stage 3. To apply to Oxford, students would need to have completed, or be studying for, at least 120 points at stage 1 or above, in appropriate subjects.
Some universities and courses will make offers based on the total number of points you earn. According to UCAS, two-thirds of university courses don't use the UCAS Tariff to advertise course requirements, but for those that do, it allows greater flexibility over the grade combinations needed to meet the requirements.
112 points may sound like a lot, but actually, it's not as bad as it seems and most students can achieve it with studying 3 A Levels.

Do Oxford care about UCAS points?
The minimum UCAS points you need to get into the University of Oxford is around 144. Though Oxford does not assess its candidates based on their UCAS point score, their courses with the lowest entry requirements are AAA at A level (or equivalent) which equates to 144 points.
While an impressive 31.7% of all Cambridge graduates left university with a first, this figure is triumphantly beaten by their bitter rivals at Oxford, where 33.2% of all graduates successfully swotted their way to a first.

What are UCAS Tariff Points? Those applying to UK universities will notice that there is often a grade requirement (AAB, BBB, etc.) and a UCAS Tariff point requirement (80 points, 120 points, etc.). The grade displayed is an A-Levels requirement.

Unlike full degrees, there are no set entry requirements for foundation degrees. You can find out more when you search for courses, but you may find it's all quite flexible. In fact, formal qualifications are not always necessary – commercial or industrial experience might be more relevant.

An A is 90% to 100%; A B is 80% to 89%; A C is 70% to 79%; A D is 60% to 69%; and finally.

The maximum for International Baccalaureate grades is 45 points, while 24 points is the minimum required to obtain the IB Diploma. In terms of grading, 38 out of the maximum 45 points are equivalent to five A grades, and a score of 30 points equals three and a half A grades at A-Level.

100% A+ A score of 200 out of 200 on a test, assignment or class is a 100% percentage grade.
